Binaries, A Charlotte Storytellers Showcase

By Charlotte Storytellers (other events)

2 Dates Through Mar 11, 2017

ABOUT ABOUT

Join us March 10th and 11th for Charlotte Storytellers’ seventh showcase! Eight Charlotteans will tell completely true stories on the theme ‘Binaries’ — how we construct divisions, form divides, and often see things in black and white without leaving any room for the gray. The showcase will be at at The Third Place Coffee Shop (1609 E. 5th St.) in the basement of the Caldwell Presbyterian Church. Doors at 7:30 pm, show at 8:00 pm.

Things you will not find at this event:
-    An elaborate discussion of programming concepts: 01011010 10101100 00010101
-    A live reenactment of that Great American Novel, 50 Shades of Gray
-    People agitated by spelling the word gray vs. grey
-    A consensus on whether the toilet paper roll should go outside or inside

Things you will find at this event:
-    Bubbles
-    New friends
-    Beer that you brought yourself
-    Street cred because you know cool, hip, literally underground events in Charlotte!

This event is BYOP (bring your own pillow) and BYOB. While we encourage childlike wonder, this event is not appropriate for kids.

$5 for an early bird ticket, $7 for a week of the show ticket, and $10 for tickets at the door. Doors open at 7:30 pm, show starts at 8 pm.

Charlotte Storytellers meets every week at The Third Place in Elizabeth to workshop stories on a theme. We take the best ones and polish them for a quarterly showcase. You can find us on Facebook: /CharlotteStorytellers, Twitter: @CLTStorytellers, and Instagram: @cltstorytellers, or at our website (www.charlottestorytellers.com). We also produce a bi-weekly podcast called “The Charlotte Storytellers Podcast,” available on iTunes, SoundCloud or your preferred podcast app.

Our host, The Third Place, was recently robbed and vandalized. Graffiti left on various surfaces indicates that The Third Place could have been targeted because it is housed in the basement of an LGBT-friendly church. If you have the resources and the inclination, you can donate to The Third Place as an addition to your ticket purchase. They will use the funds for a better security system; to replace coffee; coffee-making equipment; sound equipment, a projector and screen used for special events held in the space; as well as equipment stolen from children's Sunday School classes in the church
